Need a Registered Plumbing Contractor?
The last thing you want when running a business is problems with your drains. It’s not a nice topic to think about, but blocked drains can have disastrous consequences for your business. Nasty smells or drain overflows can affect your customers, visitors and staff. This can ultimately lead to disruption, damage and financial loss.
Drainage systems of commercial properties are used much more frequently than domestic systems and by a wide range of people. Therefore it is very important that businesses have their drains checked and maintained regularly.
If you start noticing unpleasant smells or your cleaning staff report slow draining sinks, showers, baths and toilets, don’t delay call us today. Before it is too late.
24/7 Drains cover the whole of the West Midlands (see our Areas Covered page) and aim to get to properties in our area within 60 minutes.
We now offer no-dig technology
The Cured in Place Pipe process is something which can be applied to a range of pipes and pipe sizes. The system helps improve the longevity of a pipe without the need for replacing the entire pipework.
Typical Problems – What to look for
Drainage problems can be caused by a number of things and occur in different areas of your property. Blockages can be caused accidentally by staff and visitors or build up slowly as a result of day to day operations.
A clogged toilet is often caused by people attempting to flush too much toilet paper, paper towels, baby wipes, sanitary towels, facial tissues, and even nappies or other items that don’t disintegrate the way toilet paper does. A toilet blockage is often indicated by the water rising to the rim of the toilet when it is flushed. Fortunately, we have a special plumbing tool that fits snugly in the pipe and can cut through any obstruction giving your toilet drain a thorough cleaning at the same time.
Baths, Showers and Wet Rooms
Hotels, Schools, Leisure Centres, Gyms, Hospitals, and Care Homes are particularly prone to blockages in bathroom- and wet room drainage. Toothpaste, soap, hair, grime and foreign objects can all clog the pipes from the bath or the shower trap indicating that you may need to clean the bath/shower drain or have it repaired.
If baths, showers or sinks start draining slowly then it’s time to act. Failure to do this as soon as you spot the problem could cause water to overflow onto the bathroom floor, leading to damage to the floor, or rooms below if it’s upstairs.
Kitchens and Catering areas
As commercial catering areas are used far more extensively than domestic kitchens, soap, food waste and grease can quickly build up in the drains. To save time, it’s tempting for staff to pour hot oil or fat from frying pans down the sink, but once it reaches the cold drainpipes it can solidify. Combined with food scraps and other items it can seriously clog the pipes. The first signs that you have a problem are when the sink doesn’t drain as fast as it used to or there is a strange smell. Left too long and you have a blocked and overflowing sink!
Drains outside the building can also suffer from all the items mentioned above. In addition, they are susceptible to tree root intrusion, blockages from leaves and twigs, and collapse from the passage of heavy vehicles.
Don’t worry – 24/7 Drains can help. We can cut through the roots to clear the blockage. Using CCTV we can check for damage to the pipes and advise on repairs should they be cracked or broken.
Utility rooms, garages, driveways, etc.
Utility rooms, cellars, garages, patios, driveways and even older bathrooms often have a drain to carry away water and prevent flooding. Usually, they have a trap that should be filled with water to prevent odours and sewer gas from escaping. When this becomes blocked water can back-up and start overflowing from the drain. We recommend regular drain cleaning to prevent major clogs.
Outside drains can also become blocked by leaves and roots. Again, we can help cut through the roots to clear the drain. Using CCTV we can check for damage to the pipes and advise on repairs in case there are cracks or breaks.
Regular Maintenance Service
In October 2011 the Government transferred private sewers and lateral drains (the section of the drains which joins a property directly to the main drainage) into the ownership of the statutory water and sewerage companies (in the West Midlands this is mainly Severn Trent Water). Consequently, individuals are no longer responsible for private sewers that they share with another property owner.
To ensure that your business runs sweetly we offer a “regular maintenance” program. In this program, we help you deal with common drainage problems. Which includes problems such as grease, fat, silt, leaves, blocked toilets and traps. As well as fat- and scale removal, drain jetting, gutter cleaning and gully emptying. These are just some of the things we offer as part of our maintenance service.
We can provide a service for Schools, Gyms, Hospitals, Care Homes, Leisure Facilities, Restaurants and Hotels. At a time that suits you and minimises disruption to your customers, visitors or clients.
